It's 3 p.m. and Nigel Meadows, MD of the Meadows chain of Health Clubs and Hotels, is due to arrive in under an hour. You know Nigel likes your products, but he wants to pop in and check the facts and figures before he signs the contract that could keep you in business for the next 5 years.
You've been working on your presentation all day. You have 2 vital documents and 3 Spreadsheets open, and you can't remember the last time you saved any of them. As you make the final touches to your PowerPoint presentation, suddenly your new image editing software freezes. Whatever you try to click on nothing happens? Have you overloaded the memory? Was the image editor not installed properly. Or do you have a virus?
The seconds are ticking away, and the contract seems to be falling from your grasp. If you worked for one of your larger competitors, the IT person would be at your desk in seconds, but as a small business with a home office your tech support amounts to a battered copy of Computer Shopper from 2005.
Your frustration levels are reaching the top end of the Richter scale. But before you punch the screen, hurl your laptop through the window and find a new career, you may like to know there is an alternative...
Experienced IT support by tecstuff.com via phone and online
Tec Stuff provides IT support for small businesses and home users by telephone and online. Our local IT engineers and technical support staff have years of experience in maintaining networks in the health sector nationwide. We also provide IT support contracts for businesses.
Tec Stuff can now share that expertise with small businesses, organisations and home computer users - providing a wide range of support for .
In our experience, many problems (though frustrating to the user) can be solved in under ten minutes on the phone. Rather than charge an expensive call out fee to solve a simple PC issue, we offer a contract-free, pay-as-you-go phone line.
All the details are shown in the blue instructions box on the right of this page. Our advice is to read through the instructions now and it could save you hours of downtime in the future.
Alternatively if you would like to discuss our flexible IT
support contracts please send an e-mail to support@tecstuff.co.uk.
1. Check our Tips and Hints page. In fact, print it out now and keep if by your computer for future reference. It could save you time and money.
2. If you can't solve the problem, make sure you have all the details of your system to hand before you call us. What type of computer are you using? For example, what processor and memory does it have? How old is it? What version of Windows or other OS is installed? Do you have any anti-virus and firewall programs running? Have you got an active broadband connection? We don't necessarily need answers to all these questions to help you in an IT emergency. But it is worth keeping a note of these details close to each computer, before you run into a problem. That way we can solve the problem much quicker, and save you time and money.
3. Call the Tec Stuff support line on
0905 0770
150
Calls to this line will cost 75p per minute from a BT landline. Calls from
mobiles and other networks can cost considerably more.
Please get the permission of the person who pays the phone bill before calling.
Before calling try some of the suggestions on our 'Helpful Hints' page. The technician who answers the phone will do all he can to help but we cannot guarantee that problems can be fixed without access to the equipment.
Although this may sound like a lot for a phone call, please bear in mind you are paying for one-off support from a qualified technician (there are no other costs or charges). The call cost will typically be significantly cheaper than the standard call out charge for an IT engineer. You will only be charged for the duration of you call, which you can choose to end at any time. Most simple problems can be solved in under fifteen minutes.
4. If you have an active Internet connection we can access your system online via
www.tecsuff.com/support.exe.
You simply go to the site and download a small file. You will enter a session number, which will be provided over the phone by our technician. We can then gain temporary access to your machine and talk you through the solution. This connection is totally secure and when the session is dropped, the temporary access to your machine is permanently terminated.
5. If we cannot solve the problem over the phone, you have the option
of a site visit from a qualified IT engineer.
